Graduation Class 2011~

My high schools grad class had their photo meet at QE park, volunteered to take their portraits on this wonderful Friday afternoon.

The hard light from the sun during the afternoon was quite harsh, using the Speedlight 430EXII as fill in flash is very helpful to get rid of shadows.

Summer afternoon at The Park

Picked Queen Elizabeth Park in Vancouver as the photoshoot location for my friend's daughter's 1st birthday anniversary.

Used a lot of fill flash to compensate for the direct light from the sun for many of these shots. It's fun taking photos with toddlers and younger children because many of the great shots are from those little moments when they get distracted with a toy or their favorite plushie. Very satisfied with these results. The 28-135mm came in handy for many scenarios where you want a wider view of the subject and the background to be placed more in perspective.

Canada Day 2011

Photos i took during the Canada Day Celebrations of 2011.

Using the 70-200 wide open at f/2.8 produced excellent sharpness and image quality you can really rely on. I wanted to emphasize more on the emotions of the crowd and performers in this album; focusing on tighter head shots and full body portraits. Even though Helon and I arrived about an hour early, it was still a challenge to get the best shooting positions on the streets =/, always arrive at least 2 hours early to any major events. We all had a great time though, it's absolutely wonderful witnessing and photographing events like these.
